What is Eyelid Surgery?

While communicating, the first contact is made with eyes. With the effect of factors such as gravity, age, and genetics, deformations may occur around the eyes. As to the need, upper or lower lids or both sides could be operated.

Wrinkles and excessive skin may appear at the upper eyelids and pouching and drooping at the lower lids. These situations cause that the person looks tired and older than s/he is or progress so far as to obstruct sight.

Excessive skin is removed by the help of cuts opened within the folding part at the upper lids and right under eyelashes at the lower lids, rejuvenation is provided as a result of eyelids gaining their former forms.

What should be paid attention to before the surgery?

You had better share all your expectations and concerns with your doctor. During examination, you should reply to any questions to be asked about your general health condition in details and inform your doctor about your past diseases and medications you use.

How will the surgery proceed?

Your surgery to be performed in our hospital will be carried out with sedation + local anesthesia as to the practice. Its approximate duration is 1-1.5 hours, you won’t need to stay at the hospital.

What should be known about anesthesia?

You will be examined and informed by an anesthesia doctor before the eyebrow surgery. Blood diluent medications, vitamins and factors affecting anesthesia such as alcohol and smoking should be discontinued starting from the date foreseen by your doctor.

Period of returning to the social life after the surgery

At the early period of post-surgery, you may have mild pain but this period is gone through easily with prescribed painkillers in general. There may be oedema and purple spots around the eyes, a sensation of burning and dryness at the eyes. They disappear spontaneously in 1 week. Special eye drops and eye gels will help you pass through this period more comfortably. Contact lenses may be used after a week.
